Exercise 3-2: Site Settings

Company Name / Blog Name

the company name is the 'Website Name' text used for the 'text logo' in your web pages

  • click on 'Settings' >> 'General'

  • replace the default 'Website Name' text with your own

  • click on the 'Visit Site' button in the top left corner of your page, to preview
Primary Tagline

the Primary Tagline is the sub text below the 'Website Name' text logo

  • replace the default 'Primary Tagline' text with your own

  • click on the 'Visit Site' button in the top left corner of your page, to preview
Email Address

the email address is used by the 'blog'. If you don't plan on using the blog, you can leave this field blank.  Click here to learn more...

Copyright Message

the copyright message is displayed at the bottom of every web page and blog page

  • enter your copyright info

Display Search Box

enable or disable the 'search box' included on each template page, this allows users to quickly search for information in your web pages.

  • default setting is 'Yes' --- change to 'No'  --- ONLY if you do not want a search box on your pages

Setting a Home Page

The 'Home Page' option allows you to choose which 'page' you want set as the default landing page... if a visitor types your website address into the address bar of a web browser, not specifying a page in your site such as the example below, the page that your visitor would connect with is called the 'home page' .. usually the main page of your website, used to welcome your visitors and tell them a bit about your website.

  • if you want to change the 'default' home page, click the menu to open it, then select a new 'home page'

Setting a Blog Page

For new installations, the 'Blog' page is not set, so if you plan on including a 'Blog page' in your website, you can set it here.

  • create a new page using the Pages >> Add New menu
  • name/title the new page "Blog"
  • add the "Blog" page into your web page menu's via the 'Navigation' pages
  • return to the 'General Settings' page and assign the 'Blog Page' to 'Blog'

Including Social Networks

There are 3 Social Networking tools included with your template, the AddThis bookmark tool, the Facebook icon, and the Twitter Icon. You will need an account with each of these networking sites, and once you have an account, just enter your account information into each 'Account' info box
