Section 1:  Getting Started with Your Wordpress Theme

Exercise1-1: Before you begin and things to know

There are 3 types of installations available to you. Two of these options will include the installation of Wordpress onto your web server, the third option ( Wordpress Theme Only ) requires 'Wordpress' to be installed onto your server before installing and activating your 'Theme'.

The 'GOOD' news, is that most web hosts will install 'Wordpress' for you, or include a 'Wordpress' installation option or button in your web hosting control panel. You'll need to contact your web host to find out how to install 'Wordpress' onto your hosting plan.

You can install 'Wordpress' onto any web server meeting these guidelines.

The 'Famous 5-Minute Install' from Wordpress.org can be found right here. You may need to contact your web host for some help, at least with gathering the database details, but all in all, it's a nice installation guide.

The following three installation options are covered in detail.

• "Pre-installed" - when you purchase your 'Theme' with hosting through LuckyMarble / i3dthemes
  
  
• "Premium Installation" - this is a paid service, our tech folks will install your Wordpress Theme and the WordPress [engine] onto your web server
  
  
• "WordPress Theme Only" - just the 'Theme' package
  1. for upgrading existing WP themed sites
  2. for installing to a web server that has the WordPress [engine] installed

You'll want to make sure you have 'Wordpress 2.8 or higher' installed on your server. You can verify which version of Wordpress you have installed by clicking on the

• Tools 'menu' of your WP-Admin page

"Premium Installation"

No fear, no panic! If all this Wordpress stuff is just to much to take in right now, there are a couple of options.
