Bonus "DEMO" videos: I want to share some tips and tricks to creating the first part of your websites 'shell'. A shell is a website, without content, everything else, just no content. The first thing I want to address is what I like to refer to as 'organization'...
demo-video 1: organizing your information into folders. Lets create some sort of folder structure so we can store the most common things we'll need to build our website, such as images, documents, screenshots of our favorite websites .. unless you prefer the 'stuff scattered all over my desktop' approach:)
- what sort of stuff should you organize
- creating a 'storyboard'
- creating a list of pages based on your storyboard
- organizing your pages into 'menu's
- working with the 'storyboard' to create your 'blank' pages
- h3 content headings = 3 birds with one sentence
- creating multiple pages quickly...(a little copy goes a long way) for the efficiently lazy only
- applying a 'template' to multiple pages
- working with 1, 2 or 3 columns
- working with 'sub folders' and adding pages to sub folders
demo-video 2: now let's find the most efficient method for creating the new pages we'll need in our site, and getting rid the the extra stuff...ok, now we're getting into the fun stuff...getting ready for search engine optimization...if you haven't heard of this term before, it simply means preparing your web pages for visitors that use search engines to 'find you' ... which pretty much applies to 99% of the websites on the internet. First things first, I'm not the best source for SEO info, I can only pass on what I learn, and I learn from experience with our own websites as well as working with the folks at www.planetocean.com .. what I would call one of the best SEO resource sites on the net. ( and no, I'm not compensated in any way for recommending them . they've just saved me a few dozen times or more ... ) ..
- where to find good reliable SEO resources
- what are the 'optimized' area's of a web page
- are meta keywords and descriptions still useful
- updating the meta title, the most second most important part of the page
- updating the SEO h1 and h2 text fields

- how button 'links' and link titles can affect search engines
